20/20: What made you decide to acquire Lowercase?
Rebecca Giefer: Modo’s ownership and I had always admired the Lowercase brand and appreciated the tastefulness in design and branding elements. We also believed Lowercase to be made with a similar commitment to craftsmanship because it was conveniently located so close to our own M Factory in Brooklyn. This industrial region in Brooklyn has created a community of makers, innovators and craftsman, and we knew the Lowercase workshop had a complementary place at M Factory.

How does Lowercase differ from other brands in your portfolio?
Lowercase is positioned higher than our other brands and is a product offering that targets the luxury eyewear market and specialty shops.

What are some of the main characteristics of the Lowercase sunglass and optical styles?
Each product includes premium Italian or Japanese acetates, premium hinges, a custom metal core and foil stamping that creates a signature look and feel. The sunglass collection includes Zeiss lenses, and all products are accompanied by a premium branded case and cleaning cloth.
