SIOUX CITY, Iowa--Pech Optical hosted an open house at its newly expanded laboratory here. Approximately 280 doctors and their staff attended the event, including visitors from Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, New York, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota and Iowa. Participants toured the renovated lab and enjoyed lunch with the Pech team. Also in attendance were vendors from Essilor, KBco, Carl Zeiss Vision, Transitions Optical, Shamir Insight and Eyewear Designs.

Pech has steadily expanded its Sioux City facility since moving there in 1993. The most recent renovations created a 52,200 square foot facility, more than doubling the size of the lab, which produces over 2,000 Rx jobs per day. It includes the installation of Satisloh robotic equipment throughout the surface and finish departments. Pech also installed the equipment necessary to apply Crizal and Crizal Alize with Clear Guard anti-reflective coatings, enabling Pech to control the entire processing of Crizal jobs. Among the other new equipment Pech installed was an Italian-made MEI edger capable of specialized wrap lenses and other difficult jobs.

“The expansion of Pech shows our commitment to our customers and to our employees,” said Bob Pech, chief executive officer. “It will open new doors and new challenges for all and keep us moving forward with technology.
