What's New on the Web?

The VisionSource.com consumer and corporate web sites have received facelifts to include the new colors, logos and designs that reflect our new branding initiative. Below, read about the specific changes that have been made.

VisionSource.com — Consumers' Side

VisionSource.com has been redesigned with the new Vision Source branding elements. Complimentary practice web sites have also been rebranded. All existing functionality has been retained.

Also, the Doctor Locator can now identify consumers' ZIP codes based on their IP address, making it easier for consumers to find you.

Enhancements to the Members' Side

  • What's Hot. This new section contains bullet point messages alerting members of new vendor savings opportunities and programs as they occur. The messages are linked to the vendor's page in the vendor book.
  • Favorites. Members can create a favorites list of vendors for quick access.
  • Catalog on Demand. Vendor Book catalog on-demand functionally allows members to choose from vendor type or specific vendors to output a printable PDF of selected vendors.
  • Vendor Alerts. This feature allows members to subscribe to vendor alerts based on favorites, categories or all vendors. Messages will only be sent when vendors make significant changes to their Vendor Book pages.
  • Live Links. Vendor book pages now have live links to vendor web sites and email addresses.
  • Practice Web Sites

EyeXam iPad/iPhone/iPod app

Many Vision Source doctors are still unfamiliar with the EyeXam app that exclusively lists Vision Source doctors in its search results. EyeXam app founder Dr. Nikki Iravani of Global EyeVentures suggests talking about the app with your patients.

Tell patients who are iPad, iPhone or iPod users about the app. Download the interactive EyeXam app today, show it to your patients and link it to your web site. In addition to the tests and exercises previously available, the free download version of the app now also includes the marking feature that allows patients to track and save their macular degeneration progression on a digital Amsler grid.

Download the app here.

"The EyeXam app is a great screening tool, and the best part is that Vision Source doctors are the only doctors listed inthe doctor finder," Dr. Iravani says. "This gives more credibility to you and your office." Global EyeVentures is working actively on some new features to be released in the next generation of the app.

Tell Us About YOUR Vision Source Experience

The Vision Source Experience program each year is stocked full of useful, ready-to-implement advice for member doctors and their staff. The program's true success is not measured in its number of attendees, but in the number of you who take back what you've learned and make a change.  There have been many practices who have shared their stories with us already.

Dr. David Shin of Hesperia, Calif., says it's beneficial to have the whole office at the Vision Source Experience. "Having our staff attend the VS Experience program was good. Listening to the messages from an experienced third party makes the entire practice team more willing to hear, learn and accept changes. I perform most of the patient data collection in my exam room, including unaided visual acuity. The seminar made it easier and motivated my staff to take on more responsibilities. The handout and the worksheet will really help me and my staff implement what we have learned."

Like your colleagues have done, we would like to hear how the Vision Source Experience program has moved your practice forward. Send your success story to [email protected].

If you haven't yet attended the program this year or in previous years, you're in luck. The 2011 Vision Source Experience program continues to travel across the country for the remainder of the year. Click here for more details on the program.

July's upcoming dates and locations include Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday, July 28; and Chadron, Neb., on Friday, July 29.

Put Patients in Your Chair

Two of our newer Vision Source vendors' services both bring excellent services to the table for patient recall. The two programs can also easily complement each other and bring more patients back to your practice.

Demandforce electronic communications via email and/or text helps sort through your database of patients who need confirmation of an upcoming appointment, recall to return for their annual examination, and/or reconnect with patients lost to follow-up or have not been seen for years.

Data Appointment, which offers the more personal touch of live telephone confirmation, recall and reactivation, can be used on its own or to follow up with those who have not responded to Demandforce's email or text messages.

Both Demandforce and DATAppointment bring experts in their field to serve our Vision Source network. These programs can pay for themselves quickly and are more efficient and cost-effective than having a staff member take time away from his or her regular responsibilities to perform these critical services.

For more information on Demandforce and DATAppointment, visit the Members' side of VisionSource.com.

We hope your summer has been great so far, and we wish that the remainder is enjoyable and relaxing.
