Though deep in the digital world these days, there’s still that look, feel and forever quality to print that spikes our specs. And this recent box of print goodies highlighting the past, present and future of Kirk & Kirk certainly satisfied. It contains a K&K shop window sticker, postcards of model shots and dramatic frame collages, a booklet about Kirk family optics origins, a letter from the Kirk brothers thanking clients for their frame orders and the one that totally hooked us in: a card picturing World Land Speed Record Holder Sir Malcolm Campbell in his Motex goggles noting thanks to Sidney and Percy Kirk with the exclamation: “Record broken today. Goggles excellent.” Sidney was Jason Kirk’s grandfather and Percy his great uncle. That makes for three generations of Kirks at this eyewear thing for 100 years as a family tradition. And word from our SILMO reporters Christine Yeh and Iris Johnson notes there’s a son of Jason’s showing new spec wares. So as a Kirk might well note… Cheers!

We’re moving to the WebMD office in NYC’s West Village so this December 2018 issue marks our last stand at our 20/20 digs near Penn Station and the newly skyscrapered Hudson Yards. But this might be as good a time as any to remind you that be it print, digital, photographed or video, 20/20 remains on a dedicated quest of Perfect Vision via Great Specs.
