The show will go on—virtually. That’s the message from the organizers of Rockin’ for New Eyes, who are morphing their popular rock ’n’ roll fundraiser concert from a live show into an online New Year’s Eve party.

Produced for the past six years by NEW EYES FOR THE NEEDY and featuring musicians who work in the optical industry, Rockin’ for New Eyes benefits children and adults in the United States who need eyeglasses. The concert, aptly titled “2020 in the Rearview Mirror,” will be broadcasted on New Eyes’ YouTube channel on Dec. 31, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. EST. The event supports New Eyes’ prescription eyeglass program in the U.S., serving those who are in financial need.

This year’s concert features a ’70s theme with two bands, recorded live in Atlanta and Orange County, Calif.

“New Eyes thanks the many dedicated musicians going above and beyond to perform in our virtual concert fundraiser, especially in the midst of this pandemic,” says Jean Gajano, executive director of New Eyes. “Their effort and dedication to our cause is inspiring to all of us at New Eyes.”

“Without the generosity of our sponsors, there simply would not be a concert,” Gajano continues. “We are deeply grateful for their critical support that will provide new eyeglasses and clear vision to the most vulnerable children and adults across the United States; many finding themselves unexpectedly in need due to COVID-19.”

While the concert is free for all, New Eyes is encouraging viewers to donate $23 at new-eyes.org/rock going toward a pair of eyeglasses for an individual in need.

New Eyes is aiming to raise $100,000 through corporate sponsorships of Rockin’ for New Eyes. Every $5,000 raised by sponsors will purchase 225 pairs of glasses for those in need in the United States. For sponsorship information, visit new-eyes.org/rock.

Rockin’ for New Eyes is the single largest fundraiser for the charity, which to date has raised more than $1 million.
